National Association of Social Workers Illinois PAC endorses Ram Villivalam for State Senate

Chicago (Mayfair) - Today, Democratic Candidate for State Senate Ram Villivalam (IL-8) announced the endorsement of the National Association of Social Workers Illinois PAC (NASW-IL).

“On behalf of the 6000 members of the National Association of Social Workers Illinois PAC and the over 20,000 licensed social workers in Illinois who we represent, I am proud to announce our endorsement of Ram Villivalam in the 8th State Senate District,” said Kyle Hillman, Director of Legislative Affairs and Meetings Management for NASW-IL. "Ram has a strong track record of advocating for social service professionals and the clients we serve as an SEIU organizer; from improving the working conditions, benefits, and wages of healthcare workers to increasing the minimum wage and championing LGBTQ rights.  Ram has and will continue to fight for rebuilding and reinvesting in our public services. NASW-IL is proud to stand behind Ram, the only candidate in this race who truly understands how to safeguard and expand our vital social services through the legislative process.”

“I am honored to have the endorsement of NASW-IL,” said Democratic candidate for State Senate Ram Villivalam. “I have seen first hand the impact social workers and other healthcare workers have on people’s lives, and the devastating impact of underfunding home care, child care, and Medicaid. With the support of NASW-IL, I will go down to Springfield to fight austerity policies and take a holistic approach to social service and health policy; I will fight for affordable, quality healthcare for all, protect women’s reproductive rights, and push for progressive sources of income to avoid cuts to vital services.”
